Attacking

When engaging your opponent, you have a variety of choices on your hands. Hand-to-hand combat is one of them, and today I'll explain how these moves are executed and when to use them.

First off is the standard combo. We like to call it the "jab". It's done by pressing the action button. Press it a few more times (or hold it down) to use your character's jab. For Mario, this is a 3-hit combo.

Ending in a pounding kick.

Use the action button in the air to do an aerial attack. This too differs from character to character. One will do a simple kick, the other will spin around or do a sword move. These are nice follow-ups to standard combos. Try using them with just a small jump, and you'd be surprised how well they connect.

Some aerial attacks send opponents straight down.

Now, the most critical move of all, the Smash attack! Press and hold a sideways angle and the action button, and release it at it's peak to do a powerful move. Everyone's Smash is different - Link even has a 2-hit strike!

Mario's Smash attack has a burn effect!

Mastering all these standard moves is crucial to any player. Racking up combos with the standard combo and the aerial attack, and when the time is right.. You finish the job with a Smash attack.

Ofcourse, every character has 4 unique Special Moves (some even have more) - They will be updated and placed along with the character page.
